THE MANAGEMENT OF CHANGE: GREATER EMPOWERMENT FOR THE NURSING FACULTY WITHIN A UNIVERSITY ORGANIZATION

This research examines and assesses the implementation of a change applicable to the nursing faculty within a university organization. The goal of the implemented change was to provide greater empowerment to the nursing faculty. The components of the organizational change dealt with role conflict, performance evaluation, and professional autonomy. Prevailing conditions related to each of these issues were impinging upon the prerogatives of the nursing faculty to fulfill their responsibilities and to exercise their authority.

Examination and Assessment of the Implemented Change

The change implementation is examined and assessed within the contexts of problem area, nature of the change implemented, and effectiveness of the change in relation to increased empowerment for the nursing faculty. The findings of the examination and assessment are presented separately with respect to problem arearole conflict, performance evaluation, and professional autonomy.

The relationship between role conflict and empowerment is examined and assessed in this section. The findings are discussed in the contexts of problem area, nature of the change implemented, and effectiveness of the change in relation to increased empowerment for the nursing faculty.
