CRUDE PETROLEUM INDUSTRY IN SAUDI ARABIA
This is an excerpt from the paper...
THE CRUDE PETROLEUM INDUSTRY IN SAUDI ARABIA: A DETERMINATION OF NATIONAL ADVANTAGE This research presents a determination of national advantage in relation to the crude petroleum industry in Saudi Arabia. National advantage is assessed within the contexts of each of four elements of the environment of national advantage: (1) factor conditions, (2) demand conditions, (3) related and supporting industries, and (4) firm strategy, structure, and rivalry. Competitive advantage is enhanced when favorable aspects are associated with each of the elements of the national advantage environment, and when the elements of the national advantage environment are mutually reinforcing. Within this context, the national advantage environment frequently is referred to as the national diamond. A competitive advantage may be developed in natural resourcedependent industries in some instances through the presence of favorable aspects in only one or two of the elements of the national advantage environment, or one or two points of the national diamond.
