Results of a Case Analysis Data Analy

This is an excerpt from the paper...

Overview of the Chapter

This chapter of the study presents the results of a case analysis drawing upon previously published literature. In the review of relevant literature presented in Chapter 2, the types of violence taking place on college campuses in the United States were discussed. Additionally, any published commentary regarding the relative efficacy of existing campus violence prevention plans and strategies is also presented. In this chapter, a qualitative case analysis of the violence prevention strategies and programs developed by a sample of American colleges and universities is presented.

In the review of relevant literature, a small number of college or university workplace violence prevention programs were discussed. Included were programs in place at Claremont McKenna College (2003), Santa Rosa Junior College (2002), the University of Maryland (1997), and Wellesley College (2002). These violence prevention programs serve as exemplars of the kinds of programs that have been put into place to address questions regarding the safety, security, and well-being of all stakeholders in higher education and specifically, those students and faculty members whose regular presence on campus renders them particularly vulnerable to workplace violence.

In this chapter, the details of policies and programs offered at a convenience sample of 688 American colleges and universities will be presented.
