The problem studied by Ghaith (2003, 83-93) was to clarify the difference in three different learning situations: cooperative, competitive and individualistic, which up to now have been studied by many researchers but with no definitive conclusions as to which method best promotes learning. According to Creswell (1998, 81) the end goal of such a study may be social theorizing, which was indeed the purpose of this study: theorizing which approach provided better achievement, learner's perception of fairness of grading, class cohesion, and social support.
