he age distribution was approximately the same. Specifically, descriptive analyses showed that the mean age of the group of students who ate school lunch two or less time per week was 15.45 years; while the mean age of the group of students who ate school lunch between three and five times per week was 15.35 years. As is implied by the age data, the majority of sample subjects (N = 124 or 86.11 percent) were ninth graders.
As to gender, 48 students or 33.33 percent of the overall samples were males. In other words, the majority of sample subjects were females.
Regarding the gender breakdown per student group, of the 22 students who participated in the school lunch program two or less times per week, only 2 or 9.1% of these were male. Of the students who ate school lunch between three and five times per week, 46 or 37.7% of this group were males. Thus, gender proportions were not equally distributed among the two student groups.
