Against Legalization of Euthanasia in Canada

This paper will present the case against the legalization of euthanasia in Canada. It will present the evidence against and the evidence for passing this legislation, and then summarize the findings in the conclusion. Definitions: Euthanasia is defined as the deliberate taking of someone's life by action or omission, with or without that person's consent, for compassionate reasons and for their alleged benefit (Euthanasia). Active euthanasia occurs wen one person deliberately takes the life of another person. Passive euthanasia is withholding or withdrawing necessary and ordinary care or food and water so that a person dies. Voluntary euthanasia is when the person involved gives their consent for their life to be terminated. Involuntary euthanasia is when a person is incapable of giving consent or does not give consent for their death.

Medical technology is keeping people alive longer, and while this is a blessing in many cases, in others it is a burden (Euthanasia). When someone has a terminal illness and they ask to die, this presents a dilemma to the family and friends and to
