Sometimes in life people find it necessary to reject the authority of the government that rules over them, seizing the power that is their natural and god-given right. In doing so, they must explain to those who are affected why they are bringing this change about.

The following truths are so obvious that they are self evident: every human being is created equal and have been given some inalienable rights by God, including the right to life, the right to live that life as they see fit, and the right to pursue whatever makes them happy. In order to secure these rights men create governments whose power is derived from the consent of the people. Whenever a government impinges on the rights of its citizens, people have the right to abolish it or to change its structure and to create in its stead a government better suited to protecting those rights. Of course, common sense dictates that governments should not be overthrown except in the most dire of circumstances, because history has shown that men are disposed to suffer the most grievous wrongs rather than change the status quo. Nevertheless, there comes a time when enough is enough, and when the government's abuse becomes tyrannical, it is the citizen's right and, indeed, duty, to overthrow the government. The colonies have suffered long and hard, and now they must change their form of government. The present King of England has been a tyrant who has injured the citizens and usurped their rights. We can prove this through the following facts:

He has refused to agree to laws which were good laws and which were necessary for the public good.

He has told his governors that they cannot pass laws which are incredibly important unless they do not come into effect until after he has given his consent; however when such laws have been passed and have not come into effect he has completely ignored them.
