The purpose of this research is to investigate new methods of fire detection and describe new technology used to detect smoke and heat. Fire detection methods are improving with the growth of technology, and new methods are more powerful and more accurate than previous ones. For the purposes of this paper, two Internet sources will be summarized "Fire Detection Technology," by Castellano and Papagni, and "Advanced Fire Detection Concepts: Satellite and Non-Satellite Techniques," by Vodacek T., Schott B., Kremens B., et al. Castellano and Papagni present several types of fire detection methods(old, new, and hybrid types. They point out that fuel load and fire scenarios need to be evaluated before choosing the type of product for a particular fire detection application.
