Spiritual Aspect of Human Psychology
This is an excerpt from the paper...
Care of the Soul Removes Religion and Morality from Spirituality The title of this book Care of the Soul is misleading. It suggests a philosophy that will embrace the spiritual aspect of human psychology. Yet religion, morality, and indeed any code of good and evil are seen as threats to its process. "Therefore, this book à is a guide offering a philosophy of soulful living and techniques for dealing with everyday problems without striving for perfection or salvation" (Intro, p. xii). In fact reduces the human soul to a state of being and organized religions to collections of myths. "We can be the curates and curators of our own souls, an idea that implies an inner priesthood and a personal religion" (Intro, p. xv). Organized religion, almost without exception, requires effort. There are rites to perform, obligations to fulfil, observances to keep, and dogmas to know. For people who expected religion to solve their problems and make them happy, Thomas MooreÆs approach is comforting.
