Alcohol Prevention Program
This is an excerpt from the paper...
This is a community-wide problem involving the abuse of alcohol and drugs by adolescents. In this community, as most communities, the vast majority of teenagers have used alcohol before graduating from high school. A substantial minority have tried drugs, particularly marijuana. Bukstein (1998) indicatedthat although the percentage of adolescents who have used alcohol is approximately 80 percent, this does not mean that these adolescents can, or should, be diagnosed as substance abusers. Substance use is one problem, affecting most adolescents. Substance abuse should only be diagnosed as a problem for the adolescent if he or she experiences significant impairment in one or more categories of their daily lives. This can include schoolwork, home life, and personal relationships with peers.
