AGENCY EVALUATION

This is an excerpt from the paper...

PREHAB of Arizona was founded in 1971 by Dorothy Mitchell and Larry Simmons with a budget of $13,000 and has grown to a 300 employee not-for-profit 501c3 JCAHO-accredited organization with a $13 million budget responding to the behavioral health needs of children, adults and families. Their areas of service include domestic violence and homeless family shelters, youth residential treatment centers, transitional group homes and school, outpatient counseling, training and employment.

This quote appears on their website and in much of their literature:

"Anyone can be great because everyone can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve...You only need a heart full of grace, a soul generated by love." - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

PREHAB works each year with over 600 volunteers who take Dr. King's quote to heart by providing thousands of hours of service. The services they provide widespread impact on the lives of PREHAB's clients. Volunteers work in the shelter programs - Autumn House, Faith House and La Mesita - and at residential treatment centers and programs for youth. Assistance provided can be such things as child care, recreational and craft activities, holiday projects, tutoring, auto repair, landscaping, fundraising, reading to children and many other projects

According to their literature, PREHAB of Arizona is a human service
