Race and Xerox
This is an excerpt from the paper...
Abelson, Reed. "Black Sales Agents File Discrimination suit Against Xerox." The New York Times (10 May 2001). This story reports on a lawsuit filed by current and former black sales representatives of the Xerox Corporation accusing the company of racial discrimination and retaliation. The company refuses to respond without seeing the suit except to assert its dedication to racial diversity and opportunity. This suit involves six black sales representatives from New York, California, Texas, and Georgia and follows earlier charges filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission by representatives charging that they had been discriminated against on the basis of race. The contention is that white sales representatives and managers help one another at the expense of black representatives, even to the point of taking lucrative accounts away from blacks to give them to whites. The earlier complaints included Hispanics, which this suit does not, and a second suit may be filed later on behalf of Hispanic representatives. The story is preliminary in that it only addresses the fact that the suit has been filed and does not investigate much further as yet
