"THE NEW PEARL HARBOR"

"Two years ago a project set up by the men who now surround George W Bush said what America needed was "a new Pearl Harbor". Its published aims have, alarmingly, come true" (Pilger 1)

Those who criticize what President Bush did, and has done, since 9/11 are usually characterized either as flaming liberals, or unpatriotic. David Griffin is none of the above. "David Ray Griffin, a retired professor of theology and an internationally respected Christian theologian and authorà he was not inclined to believe in conspiracy theories. But after doing extensive research, he wrote two books on 9/11 in the past year and a half: "The New Pearl Harbor: Unanswered Questions about the Bush AdministrationàHe said the evidence has led him to conclude that the Bush administration was complicit in the attacks" (Berkowitz 4).

Griffin raises questions that many were afraid to ask for fear of being considered anti-=American, or worse, pro-terrorists. One of the major concerns Griffin has was just how and why the World Trade Center's two towers collapsed. One of his key points is that the World Trade Center towers could not have collapsed due to fire. Fire has never, prior to or after 9/11, caused steel-frame buildings to collapse, even when the fires have been much more severe. In addition, the collapse of the towers exemplified all the standard features of collapses deliberately induced by explosives. For example, the collapses were straig

the Bush Administration. But, much of what he speculates on is difficult to verify. Even so, he paints a terrible picture of destruction and potential cover-up. "There are many features about the collapse that would have to be explained, not simply the fact that the buildings came down, but there were many features that suggest that the buildings were brought down deliberately through the method that's known as controlled demolition. That is, the buildings fell at almost free-fall speed. They totally collapsed to only a few stories, even though the twin towers at the center had these 47 enormous steel columns that would have been left standing in the air even by the most optimistic of the pancake theories. Furthermore, most of the concrete was turned to dust, which is what controlled demolition through explosives would do. There was also seismic evidence that suggested that there were enormous explosions underground. Then there was all of this mysterious heat that lasted for so long which was molten steel, we finally learned. Then there was the apparent cover up by the fact that the steel beams were quickly removed and shipped off to Asia before they could be studied. This was very important because there's a phenomenon kno
