Language and Norms

'Normative' is the term utilized to denote a standard. Within the reading, Hyde uses this term to refer to the standard in language. Operationally, male gender terminology is utilized as a language standard.

'Infantilizing' is the term referenced to explains how specific terms are chosen to refer to women in media language use over others.
