The objective of this study was to assess three alternative approaches to quality assessment for a small manufacturer of precision tools. The purpose of the assessment was to provide the manufacturer with the data required to facilitate a decision on the quality assessment procedure to implement. Quantitative analysis performed with the Minitab application program determined that a non-traditional approach to quality assessment would yield the lowest product item defect rates on a consistent basis.
