Johann Sebastian Bach (1685û1750) achieved eminence first as a keyboard virtuoso and later as a prolific master composer in nearly all the musical forms and genres of the high Baroque (Holoman 64). Among his great and most enduing secular workers are the six Brandenburg Concertos composed after 1717 when Bach was employed in Cothen, Germany; the pieces are addressed by Bach as ôSix concertos for several instruments, dedicated to His Royal Highness, Christian Luis, Margrave of Brandenburg (Holoman 66).ö These concertos are described by D.
