The results of the research performed for this study are presented in this chapter. The primary research question investigated through the conduct of this study sought to determine how the use of Internet services by employees while on the job affected employee productivity. The secondary research question sought to identify specific employment status and Internet use factors that are associated with changes in employee productivity. The research hypothesis tested in relation to the primary research question held that employees who use Internet services while on the job are more productive than are employees who do not use Internet services while on the job.

The dependent variable in the research performed as a part of this study was change in employee productivity. Change in employee productivity was determined through a supervisory evaluation of employee productivity. Supervisory evaluations were obtained specifically for use in this study through the administration of a "Supervisory Evaluation of Employee Productivity" survey questionnaire, a copy of which is included in this study as Appendix B.

The independent variable in relation to the primary research question and the associated research hypothesis was employee use behavior while on the job in relation to Internet services.
