Whether one adheres to this perspective or does not or believes a nation they can call their own is merited or not, ever since Israel was founded its citizens have had to, at times radically, disrupt and modify their lifestyles because of ongoing conflict in the Middle East. Long before September 11, 2001, Israeli people understood the horrors of terrorist attacks. The country was so adept at combating terrorism that the U.S. looked to Israel to come up with sound anti-terrorism policies, like putting armed officials on all airline flights, something Israel had done for decades.
