The ubiquitous nature of electronic technology urged me to develop my computer skills, including programming skills. Such skills will greatly benefit my personal and professional life. I have acquired some very basic programming knowledge but need to considerably bolster those skills. The breadth of requirements for Mathematics and Symbolic Systems mandates my enrollment in CIS 1 and CS 15, and CS 52 or CS 55. I petitioned to fulfill these requirements at community college. I am enrolled in an online class for CIS 1. I am scheduled to take CS 15 (Visual BASIC Programming) in the fall, but CIS 1 is a required course before taking CS 15. Community college offers an affordable alternative to traditional college campuses, while offering me a more flexible schedule of evening and online classes that is more conducive to my personal needs. After taking the online course Microsoft Excel XP at Los Angeles Southwest College, I realized online classes are a more efficient manner of learning for me.
