David Webber and Steven WhiteÆs (1990) Insurrection chronicles the outbreak of war between the Corporate Worlds and the Fringe Worlds. After exploiting the Fringe Worlds to help defeat the Khanate, the Corporate Worlds refuse to permit the Fringe Worlds to maintain the powers they have acquired during the conflict. The Terran Federation is split into Civil War. Various factions and players involved in the war can be seen as either adhering to or rejecting various principles of warfare set out by Sun Tzu in The Art of War. In The Art of War, Sun Tzu outlines a number of considerations from which he can predict the victor or the vanquished in warfare. Two of these considerations are; ôWhich army is stronger?ö and ôOn which side are the men more highly trained?ö (Giles 1910).
