This is an excerpt from the paper...
There are trait theory, behavioral theory, and contingency theory models of leadership. Many theories of leadership are transactional in nature, representing leaders who steer or motivate employees toward established goals through task and role requirement clarification. However, there is another kind of leader who ōinspires followers to transcend their own self-interests for the goal of the organization and who is capable of having a profound and extraordinary effect on his or her followersö (Robbins, 2003, 141). Instead, Giuliani insisted on traveling to a memorial service after napping in the back of his vehicle en route. He identified some of the victims of the attacks for relatives of close friends or associates to spare them grief. He sought inspiration and comfort from other charismatic leaders like Winston Churchill.
