UFOs

The United States Government passed a law pertaining to extra-terrestrials in 1982, Title 14, Section 1211 of the Code of Federal Regulations, adopted on July 16, 1969, (Clifford, 1982, p. 1). The law empowers law enforcement officials and the U.S. government to immediately impose an indeterminate quarantine under armed guard on anyone exposed to an extra-terrestrial. The order cannot be broken even by a court of law. Such a law is evidence that even the U.S. government believes that extra-terrestrials and Unidentified Flying Objects, or aliens and UFOs as they are commonly called, exist. Despite widespread controversy surrounding the issue, an enormous amount of evidence exists that UFOs and extra-terrestrials are not merely the stuff of imagination. I believe UFOs exist and it does not bother me as we have no reason to believe that if they do they will have hostile intentions toward us.

From movies and television shows like E.T., Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Men in Black and the X-Files, Hollywood imagination continues to create scenarios wherein aliens exist and often interact with human beings on earth. However, despite enormous controversy surrounding the existence of aliens and UFOs, a good deal of evidence exists throughout such literature that aliens and UFOs are more than the stuff of creative imaginations. One of the most famous incidents of UFO and alien visitations in the U.S. stems from the late 1940s. On July 4, 1947, in the town of Roswell, New Mexico, a number of people witnessed the crash and wreckage of a UFO. As Randle Schmitt (2004, p. 1) argues, ôThese credible witnesses included respected members of the local medical, law-enforcement, military, and scientific communities.ö
