UFOs

This is an excerpt from the paper...

The United States Government passed a law pertaining to extra-terrestrials in 1982, Title 14, Section 1211 of the Code of Federal Regulations, adopted on July 16, 1969, (Clifford, 1982, p. 1). The law empowers law enforcement officials and the U.S. government to immediately impose an indeterminate quarantine under armed guard on anyone exposed to an extra-terrestrial. The order cannot be broken even by a court of law. Such a law is evidence that even the U.S. government believes that extra-terrestrials and Unidentified Flying Objects, or aliens and UFOs as they are commonly called, exist. Despite widespread controversy surrounding the issue, an enormous amount of evidence exists that UFOs and extra-terrestrials are not merely the stuff of imagination. I believe UFOs exist and it does not bother me as we have no reason to believe that if they do they will have hostile intentions toward us.

From movies and television shows like E.T., Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Men in Black and the X-Files, Hollywood imagination continues to create scenarios wherein aliens exist and often interact with human beings on earth. However, despite enormous controversy surrounding the existence of aliens and UFOs, a good deal of evidence exists throughout such literature that aliens and UFOs are more than the stuff of creative imaginations. One of the most famous incidents of UFO and alien visitations in the U.S. stems from the late 1940s. On July 4, 1947, in t

Haines, who had conducted a major study on the role of the Central Intelligence Agency in studying UFOs, ôFormer Presidents Carter and Reaganö have also ôclaimed to have seen a UFOö (CIA, 2005, p. 1). In the 1950s the CIA created the Robertson Panel to investigate UFOs and alien sightings and the interest in them has not declined since. Opponents of the existence of UFOs and aliens argue that what people see and the government conceals are typically top-secret missions by the U.S. government, such as Project MOGUL, the project whose weather balloon designed to survey the atmosphere for signs of Soviet nuclear testing is allegedly what caused the crash and debris in Roswell in 1947 (CIA, 2005, p. 21). Nevertheless, many individuals remain adamant that UFOs and aliens have visited earth, causing charges against the CIA in the 1980s that the ôCIA was still withholding documents relating the 1947 Roswell incidentö (CIA, 2001, p. 21). Many argue that during the 1950s President Truman established a top-secret committee known as Majestic-12, to help recover UFO debris from the Roswell crash and to examine any alien life forms related to it.
