The Siege is not very far fetched as far as plots go, particularly in light of the terrorist events of September 11, 2001. However, the film does demonstrate how such terrorist acts not only threaten civil liberties with respect to increased efforts at security like martial law, but it also shows how groups can be stereotyped that are members of the culture responsible for such acts.In The Siege, the U.S. Government abducts a Muslim religious leader, Sheik Ahmed Ben Talal. TalalÆs abduction by the military sets off a series of bombings against New York City targets by Arab terrorists.
