This essay was about comparing a particular breed of chicken to that of a particular type of American citizenry û the most likely representation of which is that of a fat, white American. As this author read through the essay, it was easy to picture exactly what type of people of which white chickens were representative. One may observe them daily. They sit in cushy offices while they attend to their mundane lives more concerned with answering such monumental questions as whether Rachel will marry Ross or Joey rather than pondering why there are so many immigrants leaving their own countries to seek asylum in the United States. They have always had meals on their plates and shelter over their heads. While a murder may occur in their neighborhood, they are unlike the Brown Leghorn people who come to the pen from Colombia and Latin America where revolutions create family sorrows where many have buried children before their time under economic conditions that would strain any wallet.
White chickens donÆt reproduce because they have a pill for everything. It seems that while the Tyson scientists (social planners) were engineering the super race fit to survive everything, they ultimately engineered a race unfit to last through anything. After all, conditions of war are easier to withstand when one is insulated by a fur-lined foxhole.
However, within this essay is a stronger picture of what is occurring to the æbest of the breedÆ. It seems that white chickens may be compared to most Americans who have no desire to leave American soil to discover what lies beyond their borders. There is no incentive since everything they need is here. Meanwhile, the Brown Leghorns, used to living and subsisting on next to nothing come in and plunder from the white chickens, who will not notice what is happening.
