They may dimly realize that theyÆre not getting enough sleep, but without understanding how this can change the way they look at things or alter their behavior. Suddenly losing his temper may be a tired policemanÆs first clue that his lack of sleep is beginning to affect his actions. Yelling at her child over something trivial may be a motherÆs first alert that her sleep deprivation is altering her personality. For the average person, lack of sleep may not cause any dramatic problems, just little outbursts or minor mistakes. But what about those times when sleep deprivation pushes someone over the edge?
