The dream of going to college becomes short-circuited for many people in todayÆs world. Financial insufficiency, unexpected pregnancy, early marriage, and other factors interrupting the educational process can cause some students not to even finish high school, let alone go to college. In spite of these factors, however, the dream does not die for most people. It lies dormant in the midst of hope that someday, somehow, the opportunity to continue the interrupted education will arise. Continuing oneÆs education as an adult is different from early education, however, because there are new factors that impinge upon it: juggling a family and/or a job, adult financial pressures, and fear of going back to school are just a few. The good news is that managing continuing education is becoming easier, and going back to school is within reach for more people today than ever before. ôOne of the major trends of the 80's and 90's has been the return of adults over the age of 25 to colleges and universities. Some statistics report that over 50% of all students nationwide now fit this categoryö (ôAdults Returning to Schoolö).TodayÆs solutions hold great promise for activating the dormant dream, living it, and fulfilling it.
