Information Technology Report to IT ManagerThe companyÆs data resides in a number of data bases scattered across the department boundaries. In the corporate office, the CEOÆs executive information system (EIS) dates back to the 1980Æs and receives wholesale raw data that he can tap into and perform what-if calculations on. Much of the data is unscrubbed, which has always been a concern to those underneath him. He occasionally gets upset about situations that look worse in the raw data than they actually are when the facts are known. He can use the EIS to get a high-level picture of the companyÆs health across the board, but he can also drill down to the detailed level to look into the profitability of a particular product at a particular site. This visibility prevents catastrophic problems from blindsiding him and allows him to keep his finger on the pulse of the company at all times. His data resides in Oracle on the companyÆs main server so that he can tap into everything on that server.
