The team for this project evolved beyond the way it was configured at the beginning. It started with only two members, and we came up with an idea for the project but waited to see if anyone else in the class needed a group. We subsequently invited two new members to join, and sometime after that a fifth person joined. This staged team development worked out well, because each successive person added to the team was flexible in terms of going with the exercise that had already been planned and yet able to contribute his or her own ideas openly. Had we not had such willing and cooperative group members, however, or if we had had difficulty bringing the others up to speed, the progressive team development might have been an issue.Our mode of work on the team was virtual meetings through online chats and e-mail, which had some implications for team involvement and effectiveness.
