Code of Ethics

This is an excerpt from the paper...

The code of ethics for my organization needs to reflect both the ethical considerations at the organization level and those of the company as a whole. I work for a very large company, Ralston Foods, but my job is in the warehouse department where store brand cereal is made. My job entails special ethical problems that do not exist in the high-level corporate environment at Ralston Foods, so my organizationÆs code of ethics should incorporate the high-level code of ethics and augment it with additional items that pertain to my particular organization. Employees accused of failing to honor the code of ethics will be advised of such accusations and reasonable effort will be expended to research the accusation so that it can be either verified or discredited by the facts. The employees involved will be given the opportunity to explain their actions. Employees whose failure to honor the code has been proven and authenticated will have the incident documented in their permanent file, and the information will be considered in decisions concerning whether to award promotions, raises, and bonuses, as well as whom to lay off when layoffs are imminent. Repeated or extremely serious violations of the code, if verified, documented, and authenticated, will result in the dismissal of the employee without severance pay. Any violations or alleged violations of the ethics code will be adjudicated based on factual evidence, so employees will be advised to keep written records of any incidents that they might later be called upon to explain, whether they be actions of their own or actions of those that they observe vio
