Concept of God's Existence

As someone once said, ôI would rather die believing that there is a God than die and then find out that there is a God.ö Although many people refuse to believe in God because they cannot see Him, God is real to meùsight unseen. I believe in many things that I cannot see. I believe that falling objects are governed by the law of gravity; everything on earth is composed of atoms; and the unseen God rules all. The essence of faith is believing when you cannot see, and I have that faith.

What I believe is not based on the religion I was taught in the Catholic Church. The Catholic views on heaven and hell conform with the churchÆs thinking as an organization, and although I respect that, I realize that God is not obligated to run the world according to Catholic doctrine or any other manmade ideas, only according to the promises that He Himself has made. I have difficulty receiving the truth in the Bible, even though I recognize that it is GodÆs book and His promises are written throughout. The fact that many Biblical scholars wrote it gives me the impression that it cannot all be accurate, in spite of the fact that its accuracy is continually being verified by scientists and Bible scholars. However, it is clear that the Bible was written as a rulebook for mankind to follow. God made the world, and anyone who wants to understand how it works can find the answers in the Bible.

I may not know all there is to know about God, but I do know thisùmy belief in God has helped me live a good life, show kindness and compassion to others, and forgive those who have hurt me. My life has been less complicated since I have brought it in line with GodÆs principles. That in itself tells me that God exists; when I do what He says, my life works the way it is supposed to.
