China is a particularly attractive market to foreign companies because of its large population and because the country is in the process of a rapid modernization program. Personal computers, automobiles and other goods are being adopted at a rapid pace inside the country, and the government, while remaining Communist, is working with capitalists from the outside to increase the economic performance of the country. Many American companies have entered the Chinese market with varying degrees of success, and this remains a high-risk nation.
