Results of Research Study

This is an excerpt from the paper...

A total of 26 students participated as subjects in the research study. Nine students each were placed in the CAI and MCTI groups, while eight were placed in the TDI group. Of the 26 participants, 14 were female and 12 were male. The gender breakdowns and median ages for each of the three groups are found in Table I.

TABLE 1: Age and Gender Makeup of Control (TDI) and Experimental (CAI, MCTI) Groups

The first two hypotheses examined the effect of computer-aided teaching techniques on the skill acquisition of learning-disabled students. Specifically, Hypothesis One predicted that students who received a mixture of traditional and computer-assisted instruction would exhibit greater skill acquisition than would students who received either technique alone, while Hypothesis Two predicted that students who received computer-aided instruction alone would outperform students who received traditional instruction alone. To test these hypotheses, the students were tested twice on their mathematics skills, once before the instruction and once after the instruction. Tables II, III, and IV present the mean scores of each group in the pre-test measurement. Each group scored almost exactly the same as each other, the differences yielding t scores of .009, .009, and .014, none of which are significant at p=.05, meaning that valid comparis
