BEA develops and markets software in the broad category referred to as application infrastructure software. BEA has chosen to focus on the core of application infrastructure, which enables companies to build distributed enterprise software systems, that are integrated to work seamlessly with each other and existing legacy assets, and are extended to multiple internal and external audiences via the web.

BEA carries two primary product lines:

BEA WebLogic - A comprehensive application infrastructure platform based on web standards and a J2EE foundation, providing enterprises with a seamlessly integrated infrastructure stack for maximum speed of development and integration, with greater flexibility for change. BEA WebLogic Enterprise Platform is what Gartner defines as the Application Platform Suite (APS) Market. The APS market has emerged from the convergence of three primary application infrastructure software product categories - the Application Server, Integration Broker, and Portal Server. In addition to these product categories, BEA has extended the WebLogic line with Enterprise Information Integration (EII) software - Liquid Data for WebLogic, and with Enterprise Application Security - WebLogic Enterprise Security. BEA's intention is to continue to expand the WebLogic family to include additional capabilities, such as systems and web services management.
