The focus of the project management team during the Project Execution phase is the execution of the plan. A proper Project Planning stage will set up the plan to be run smoothly during Project Execution. It is essential that the team stick to the plan unless they first change it formally using the change management plan set up during the Project Planning stage. Sticking to the original schedule, budget, and audit plans will ensure that the project runs as intended and will lead to success.
Of course, every project will have to face some problems during execution. When a problem arises, it must be identified, its cause determined, and corrective actions (immediate and long term) implemented to solve it. The last stage in problem resolution is feedback to prevent recurrence of the problem. Conflicts also arise on every project team, from personal conflicts among team members to conflicts with customers. The source of the conflict and its impact on the project must be determined before deciding on a solution, which must be implemented. As with a problem solution, feedback is necessary to prevent recurrence of a conflict.
