The Holland Academy

This paper examines the hypothetical Holland Academy, whose mission is to "provide high-quality education and living instruction for special needs students from around the world." The Holland Academy will conduct a needs assessment for special needs education in all three regions where it intends to have schools, via a survey to all stakeholders; the purpose will be to identify problems as well as figures representing the number of special needs students in those areas and the types of special needs they have. Using the Internet, the Holland Academy will gather information on fund raising activities and will then initiate public relations activities, using the surveys as a preliminary public relations vehicle. After the analysis of completed surveys, the public relations and marketing program will be presented to local school districts via meetings and the Internet. A two-month period is estimated as the timeframe in which all stakeholders will be informed about the program via the Internet. Next, there will be fundraisers for the parents, community, and businesspeople, as well as any other stakeholders, and these gatherings will also be used to market the program. The final step will be to obtain and implement public relations plans and their evaluation. Through the advisory board, relationships with social service agencies will be established and protected. Using the school's web site, the most current information about the student population will be provided to social service agencies. This entire program will be reiterated on an ongoing basis, with each new evaluation taking about a month.
