This memorandum provided preliminary recommendations in relation to a plan to provide employee access to business management courses in an organizational-wide context. This objective implies global access. The preliminary recommendations consider only the (a) analysis, (b) design, and (c) development phases of the planned project.
The analysis phase of the planned project included (a) problem definition, (b) goals, (c) definition of the learning environment, and (d) identification of target population (Crawford, 2004). The problem confronting the organization is the need to improve management development within the organization. The goals of the planned program will include (a) providing access to appropriate college-level course work, (b) minimizing the cost to targeted employees for course work participation, and (c) greater effectiveness in management development. The learning environment for the planned program will be a combination of (a) online course participation and (b) application of online learning to daily organizational operations. The target population will include (a) personnel identified by management as appropriate candidates for management development and (b) personnel who request access to the program and who are subsequently approved for participation.
Program design includes (a) instructional strategies and (b) media selection (Hokanson, Miller, & Hooper, 2008). For the planned program, the primary instructional strategy will be a focus on student-instruction interactions. A secondary strategy will be student-student interactions. The medium for course conducts will be the Internet and the corporate intranet.
