Balfour Beatty was founded in 1909 by George Balfour, a mechanical engineer, and Andrew Beatty, a chartered accountant (Datamonitor, 2008, p. 7). The organisation has grown and expanded over the years to become one of the most successful construction companies in the world. Today, Balfour Beatty is associated with "four market-leading businesses in professional services, construction services, support services and infrastructure investment" (Balfour Beatty, 2011).
