Not only did they rack up more number one records, gold and platinum singles and albums, and a host of other "firsts," but they also were the first group to ever take every detail and aspect of an album's production into account as being essential. For example, they not only cared about the music, but because of Epstein's astute management (and from having a chain of music stores in his family) the Beatles did special things on their album covers, on the liner notes, on the lyrics, and on the way in which the music was mixed on the album. Never before did a group or artist consider that the entire package of the music was as important as musical content. Because of this, no other group in history even comes close to matching the Beatle's musical sales, innovations and achievements.

The social impact of the Beatles was immense from a music and merchandising standpoint, but it was also immense from a personal image and message viewpoint.
