er to the left-hand tree and the flat-topped mountain's side descends toward the tree in a series of small rock plateaus interspersed with shrubs and plants. On the right a sheer drop divides it from the less detailed rocks to the right which form three pointed peaks.

Compositionally the path between the foreground rocks forms a triangle that points toward the house. The tree trunks form a rough diamond shape through which the house is seen. Though some areas such as the path and parts of the rock are relatively empty spaces, the roof and half-walls of the house are almost completely blank areas. The house consists of a number of straight-edged rectangles (doors, windows, walls, desk). Immediately above the blank area of the roof the branches of the right-hand tree have the most color and are the most intricately painted portion of the whole painting. The left hand tree has less greenery and the rocks and plants above that tree contain many sparse areas of plants and rocks colored in brown. Above the two trees the lines of the silhouette of the right-hand tree and the branches of the left-hand tree, along with rocks behind them, form a V-shape which points down toward the little house. Sitting in the center of this V (compositionally speaking) is the flat-topped peak. The flat rocks are staggered and stepped and the highest, and smallest, of the peaks sits in the center of the upper silhouette against the sky.
