And Jackson states that Sacco's employer reported to Sacco that the police were looking for him to question him about his poli-tical ideas. However Sacco was planning to return to Italy, and most importantly for the case, Sacco was going to Boston to see about his passport on the day the crime was committed. On the evening of April 14th Sacco discussed his Boston trip with a fellow worker, telling him that he was going to Boston the next day and would be late for work. Sacco claimed he did go to Boston on April 15, but had been unable to get his passport because "Guiseppe Andrower, the passport official, wouldn't accept the photograph" (Jackson 11), Sacco brought with him. Vanzetti's alibi was not as easily substantiated. On the day of the robbery/murders "Vanzetti said he was peddling fish" (Jackson 14). In the

testimony at the trial the prosecutors ripped Sacco and Vanzetti's alibis to pieces.

Guiseppe Andrower, the passport official, testified that he remembered Sacco's coming into his office on April 15 because of the strange picture he attempted to use. The prosecutors told Andrower that he dealt with too many people everyday to recall anyone from a specific day. They raise their voices in his face challenging him to recall one other person from any day in April or May. He cannot.
