Violence at school disrupts the learning environment. Action needs to be taken as soon as any of the warning signs are seen (putting people down verbally, needing to control others, intolerance of differences, and quick flare-ups). Teachers need to be on the lookout for such signs, and take action before violence occurs.

Ciampi (31-36) suggests that television has an influential role on the adolescent's acceptance of violence, and that conditioning factors are often the precursors of violence in adolescents. Addiction to violent images on television could accelerate sadistic and serialistic inclinations in behaviorally disturbed males, says Ciampi. He says we must discourage adolescents from relying on violence to solve their problems and identify children at risk at an early age for effective intervention.
