Marx's theory contains incongruities and contradictions. Separate histories in different parts of the world have evolved with no clearly marked and uniform stages of development. Theda Skocpol and Ellen Kay Trimberger presented a structural analysis of revolutions based on the work of Karl Marx. They examined the multiple relationships among the important political players and the key relationships that may reinforce or undermine state power.
