Since a business plan is a written document which can be communicated to everyone in a company, it would provide the sales manager with information about what was expected of him over the course of a year. In fact, a good business plan would be written with input from the sales manager (along with key staff members from throughout the organization). In this way, everyone in the company would have input about what the company was trying to accomplish, and how it was going to accomplish its goals.

A business plan developed prior to purchasing the business may also have changed the terms that Rodrigues used to complete the transaction. Rodrigues still believes that he got an excellent deal on the business at the same time that he admits he has a cash flow problem.
