In a recent poll, The Gallup Organization asked a sample of 500 adults: "Would you support a new Constitutional amendment that would make flag-burning illegal?" Seventy one percent said "yes," while only twenty four percent said "no." This is nearly a three-to-one margin, and it reflects the fact that most Americans are, in Applegate's words, "Mad as hell."
