of suicide or a story urging others to commit such an act. Instead, the story makes very clear how foolish Paul was to do what he did. The finality of suicide must be extremely difficult to realize. Cather's story makes us see how wrong Paul is to take his own life because by doing so he makes sure that he will never be able to do all the things he so much wanted to do with his life. The story can be very informative for anyone, but perhaps especially for young people around Paul's age, who might feel as Paul does.
