Elvira, Mistress of the Dark

s Vegas. She needs money to do this, and she fortuitously receives a letter stating that she has inherited something which could mean she will have the money she needs. For the most part, the complications in the film have less to do with whether or not she gets the money and more to do with social attitudes in the contrast between herself and the people of the town. The moralistic people in the town oppose her, and a jealous waitress opposes her because she is taking away the man the waitress viewed as her boyfriend. The other line of opposition derives from her evil uncle and his ambition to gain power through the book she has inherited.

The film is not realistic, and the ending has to be considered in light of this fact. Yet, realistic or not, the film should be logical and consistent in the universe it creates. One problem with films centering on witchcraft is that they tend not to create and follow rules--they make the rules
