Regarding the positive and negative aspects of Prometheanism, Dennehy states that these can be thought of as being of two types. These types are: (1) Christian Prometheanism which is the desire for understanding and dominance over nature that is in accord with God's Plan for the world; it is an aspect of that desire for Truth that leads ultimately to God; and

(2) Post-Christian Prometheanism which rejects the existence of the Divine in general and Christianity in particular and invests its hope and faith in man's ability to conquer nature as the only means to better himself.

Dennehy states that Post-Christian Prometheanism will ultimately reap all that derives from that which is sown in the absence of God.
