Finding a cure for cancer is different first because we have not yet discovered the underlying mechanism which causes cancer, and indeed there may be no such single cause. If this is so, there would have to be many cures, as there are many types of cancer. Spending money and effort will not make an answer or create a cure where there is none.
3. Galileo carried out this experiment centuries ago by dropping objects of different weight from the top of the leaning tower of Pisa, or at last that is how the story is told. He demonstrated that gravity operates evenly and without regard for weight so that objects dropped from a height, even if they are of widely different weights, will strike the ground at the same instant, barring the action of air friction in slowing them down. In this experiment, the one and 10 pound balls should strike the ground at the same instant. However, it is possible that air friction would be able to slow the one pound ball slightly given the extreme height from which the two balls are being dropped. This would only be a slight slow-down, however, and essentially the two balls will strike very close together. This would prove the law proposed by Galileo and would prove that gravity does operate evenly and not on the basis of weight. The fact that the two objects are balls and so both round and made of the same substance increases the likelihood that they will strike at the same time.
