E. Prufrock: Prufrock is the title character in T.S. Eliot's "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock." He is a man who has never made his mark on the world and who is now getting older and feeling his mortality more strongly. The name J. Alfred Prufrock is meant to be prosaic and tedious like the man himself, and the reference to this as a love song is ironic in that this is a man who has not known love.
