Although the world will continue to have its odd tyrant and small-scale military conflicts, these could be largely ignored by the major powers. Only when such problems threaten the general interest will intervention become necessary. Even then, however, it will typically be the United Nations that authorizes joint military action (Nelan 36-38).
In the future, cooperation with the United Nations--in both military and peaceful pursuits--could become the norm.
